Cryptograms is a free daily puzzle game from Razzle Puzzles where your mission is to decrypt a famous quote by cracking a letter substitution cipher.
Each puzzle presents a quote where every letter has been swapped with another. An A might become a Q, an E might become a W, and so on. The substitution is consistent throughout, so once you figure out one letter, it applies everywhere. Your job is to use logic, language patterns, and a little trial and error to decode the entire message.
- Each letter in the encrypted quote stands for exactly one other letter.
- Click a coded letter, then choose what you think it decrypts to.
- Single letter words are almost always A or I.
- Look for common short words like THE, AND, OF, or IN.
- Letters after apostrophes are usually S, T, D, LL, or RE.
- High frequency letters like E, T, A, O tend to appear most often.
- Use undo, reset, or hint buttons if you get stuck.
- A new cryptogram drops every day.
Why we like it:
- β That aha moment when a single letter unlocks half the puzzle is deeply satisfying.
- β Quotes span history, literature, comedy, and wisdom, so you learn while you solve.
- β Perfect length for a coffee break without overstaying its welcome.
Hint: Start with the shortest words and apostrophes. Once you nail down A, I, S, and T, the rest of the puzzle tends to crack open fast. Letter frequency is your friend.
