Playlin'sGuide
Immortal Snail Chess adds two relentless king-hunting snails to a game of chess.
Each snail follows the most direct path toward the opposing king. They move automatically, block squares, and capture anything they land on, giving you another threat to consider alongside your opponent's pieces.
- Play against the Snailfish bot on Easy, Medium, or Hard, or challenge a friend.
- Move your chess pieces using their usual movement rules.
- Every three moves, the snails each advance one square toward the king they're hunting. Watch the move indicators to track when they'll step.
- Snails cannot be captured. Other pieces cannot land on their squares or move through them, although knights can jump over them.
- A snail captures anything on the square it reaches. If it captures a king, the game ends.
- Checkmate still wins. If both kings are captured by snails at the same time, the result is a draw.
You can play a friend on the same device or online. This is an on-demand chess variant rather than a daily puzzle.
Why we like it:
- β The approaching snails make king safety a moving target.
- β Uncapturable obstacles change how you use the board.
- β Familiar chess rules gain an unusual extra layer of planning.
Hint: Before the snails move, check where each one will land. A square that looks safe from ordinary chess pieces may still put your king in a snail's path.
