Objective

Read each setup, choose a quantity, and run the experiment to learn whether your guess is too low, too high, or correct.

Playlin'sGuide

It Took is a daily estimation game where your mission is to guess exactly how many of something it takes to make an experiment work, across five different puzzles a day.

Each round opens with a quirky setup and its assumptions stated plainly. How many balloons does it take to lift a cat? How many batteries to boil a kettle? You slide to a number and run the experiment to see what happens.

  • Slide to your guess and hit try it. The experiment plays out live with your number.
  • You'll learn if you went too low, too high, or landed just right.
  • You get three tries per experiment.
  • Scoring rewards speed. 3 points for guessing right on the first try, 2 on the second, 1 on the third.
  • Five experiments a day, up to 15 points total, then share your result and come back tomorrow.

Why we like it:

  • ✅Watching the experiment actually play out is more satisfying than just getting a number right or wrong.
  • ✅The range of questions keeps things fresh, from physics to kitchen science to pure absurdity.
  • ✅Five short rounds make it easy to squeeze into any part of your day.

Hint: Read the stated assumptions closely before you slide. The setup often hints at scale, and anchoring your first guess near a round number gives you useful feedback to narrow down the second and third tries.
