Playlin'sGuide
Minecraftle is Wordle played on a crafting table. You get an inventory of ingredients and ten guesses to build the day's secret recipe in the 3x3 grid. Green means the right ingredient in the right square, orange means it belongs in the recipe but somewhere else, and grey means it isn't in there at all.
Each day presents a mystery item from Minecraft's vast crafting system. Your job is to recreate the exact recipe by selecting the right ingredients and placing them in the correct spots on a 3x3 crafting grid.
- You have 10 guesses to nail the recipe.
- Select ingredients from the list and drag them into the grid.
- After each guess, the game shows you which ingredients and positions are correct.
- Correct ingredients in the right spot are marked with green.
- Correct ingredients in the wrong spot are marked with orange.
- A new crafting recipe drops every day.
- Random mode lets you practice beyond the daily challenge.
The recipe-recall and spatial parts are what makes it hard. Knowing a recipe calls for planks and a stick gets you halfway, and then you have to remember where they sit. It tests a kind of muscle memory that thousands of hours of Minecraft installs and nothing else does.
Four students built it in 2022 as a university assignment in CITS3403 "Agile Web Development". It has outlived the assignment due date (May 23, 2022 at noon) by a considerable margin, though if you're curious they received a 100% on the project. Zach Manson has kept it running since, rebuilding it from Flask to Next.js along the way, and says on the site that he still isn't sure how anyone finds it.
Why we like it:
- ✅Scratches the same itch as Wordle but with a spatial twist that feels fresh.
- ✅Very familiar for Minecraft players.
- ✅That final click when the recipe locks in is deeply satisfying.
Hint: Start by guessing common base materials like wood, stone, or sticks. Even wrong placements reveal which ingredients belong in the recipe, letting you rearrange with confidence. You can find some common crafting recipes in the Crafting section of the Minecraft Wiki.
