Playlin'sGuide
Deep Cut is a daily hockey trivia game where your mission is to name players who fit a prompt, and the rarer your right answer, the more points you bank.
Each day brings six prompts, called shifts. Every prompt has many correct answers, such as players with 500 career goals or goaltenders with big win totals. You aren't scored on being right. You're scored on how rare your right answer is, so the name most fans would never reach for is worth the most.
- Type one player who fits the prompt and press SKATE ON. Capitals and accents don't matter, and small typos in a full name are forgiven.
- A surname alone works when only one player on the list has it.
- A right answer banks points for its tier and moves you to the next shift.
- You get three strikes per shift. Three wrong answers end it with nothing banked.
- No idea? Pass. It costs nothing but the shift.
- Tiers run from HIGHLIGHT REEL at 10 points up to ONE IN A MILLION at 100.
- Watch out for TOO CLEVER. It feels like a deep pull, but most fans type it, so it scores less than ROLE PLAYER.
- Past games are open as practice.
Why we like it:
- ✅Rewarding obscure knowledge makes every correct answer a different kind of win.
- ✅Three strikes per shift keeps the tension up without ending your whole run.
- ✅The archive and stat sheet give die-hard fans plenty to chase after the daily board.
Hint: Skip the first name that jumps to mind, since everyone else is typing it too. Think about role players, defunct teams, and different eras, and you'll find the deeper cuts on the list.
