Objective

Provide five different answers to the daily question that are as rare and obscure as possible.

Playlin'sGuide

Seldom is a daily trivia game where your mission is to find the most obscure correct answers to an open-ended prompt in 5 guesses.

Forget knowing the right answer. Here, you need the answer nobody else would think of. Each day brings a new question like "Name something that comes before the word fall" or "Name a fruit." Your job is to imagine the least obvious answers. Apple is obvious, but kumquat is not. Pick kumquat.

  • You have 5 guesses to find the rarest valid answer.
  • Each answer gets a score from 0 to 100.
  • Lower scores are better. Hit 0 and you've found a Seldom, the perfect result.

Type your answer and see how it scores. If "waterfall" comes back as 95, you're thinking too obvious. Go deeper. "Pratfall" might score 8. "Overfall" could be a 3. Something like "stonefall", that's Seldom territory.

Why we like it:

  • Rewards lateral thinking and vocabulary depth over raw trivia knowledge.
  • That rush when a weird hunch scores single digits.
  • Quick enough to play on a coffee break, deep enough to haunt the rest of your day.

Hint: Don't second guess your weirdest instincts. The obvious answer is always a trap. Think compound words, archaic terms, technical jargon, or proper nouns. If it feels too obscure to be valid, it's probably exactly right.
