Playlin'sGuide
UnWordle is a daily logic puzzle that flips Wordle on its head. Instead of guessing the answer, you're given the final word and its color-coded grid, and your job is to reverse-engineer the guesses that led to it.
You start with a completed Wordle grid where the last row is revealed along with all the tile colors (green, yellow, and gray). Your task is to fill in the previous rows with valid five-letter words that would produce exactly those colors.
- The bottom row shows the correct answer and the color pattern for the entire grid.
- Each row above must be a real five-letter word.
- The letters you choose must match the color coding: green letters are in the right spot, yellow letters are in the word but wrong spot, gray letters aren't in the answer at all.
- Work backwards from the solution to recreate a plausible Wordle attempt.
- A new puzzle appears daily, with unlimited and builder modes also available.
Why we like it:
- β Requires a completely different skill set than Wordle, focusing on pattern recognition and constraint solving.
- β That aha moment when the grid clicks into place is deeply satisfying.
- β Quick enough for a coffee break but tricky enough to feel like a real puzzle.
Hint: Start with the rows that have the most green tiles. They give you the firmest constraints and help you eliminate impossible letters early. Save the wide-open first guesses for last.
