Playlin'sGuide
CaperTrails is a map-based detective puzzle where every block takes one minute. Read the case, study the clues, and reconstruct the routes to work out what happened.
Times, locations, directions, and places someone passed through all help narrow the possibilities. A route must fit every clue, so being close to the crime scene isn’t enough. The timing has to work too.
- Start with the case objective. Note the crime’s location and time, and exactly what you’re being asked to prove.
- Move horizontally or vertically, one block per minute. Diagonal moves aren’t allowed.
- Never enter a blocked square.
- Unless the case says otherwise, a route cannot revisit the same cell.
- Use all the clues together to eliminate impossible routes.
- Submit the verdict that fits the evidence. Path, Hideout, and Crossing cases ask for different kinds of answers.
- Try the featured weekly case or explore the puzzle archive.
Why we like it:
- ✅Turns a simple movement rule into a satisfying detective challenge.
- ✅Makes timing just as important as location when testing a suspect’s route.
- ✅Gives each deduction a concrete purpose: ruling out a path or finding one that fits.
Hint: Count the minimum moves between two known locations and compare that with the time available. If the trip needs more minutes than the clues allow, you can rule it out immediately.
