Make your best numerical guess for each of five daily questions and earn points on a logarithmic scale, where getting within the right order of magnitude matters most.
Playlin'sGuide
Estimania is a daily numerical estimation game where your mission is to guess the answers to five trivia questions as closely as possible, scoring points based on how near you get.
Each day brings five questions spanning science, geography, history, sports, and more. Some have exact answers. Others are classic Fermi problems, where logical reasoning gets you into the right ballpark. You're not expected to know the precise figure. You're expected to think it through.
- Read the question and type your best numerical guess.
- You're scored on a logarithmic scale from 0 to 100 per question. A perfect guess scores 100. Being off by a factor of 10 scores zero.
- Proportional errors are treated symmetrically, so guessing 50 when the answer is 100 costs you the same as guessing 200.
- After five questions, your total score out of 500 is revealed, along with your rank on the leaderboard.
- A new puzzle drops every day at midnight UTC.
Why we like it:
- ✅Rewards your intuition and reasoning, not rote memorization.
- ✅The log scale means getting the order of magnitude right feels genuinely satisfying.
- ✅Short enough to finish in one sitting, but challenging enough to make you think.
Hint: Break down Fermi questions into smaller, easier estimates and multiply them together. Estimating the number of dogs worldwide? Start with population, household size, and ownership rates. Ballpark beats guesswork.
