Guess the Chain is a daily map game where your mission is to identify a mystery U.S. chain from dots showing every one of its locations in 6 guesses.
Each puzzle shows a map of the United States with one chain's stores plotted on it. It could be a restaurant, grocery store, gas station, bank, or gym. Some chains blanket the country, while others never leave a single region. Type a chain name and the game compares your guess to the mystery chain.
- Type a chain name to guess. Close spellings are fine, since the best match is used.
- Each wrong guess shows whether the category matches, with β for the same kind of business, β for similar, and β for different.
- It also shows whether the mystery chain has more or fewer stores than your guess, with an up or down arrow.
- The map overlap score shows how much the two maps cover the same places. Press Compare to see your guess's dots in blue on top of the mystery map.
- Stuck? Take as many clues as you like, one at a time. They cover category, store count, year founded, headquarters state, and first letter. Your shared result shows how many you used.
- A new map arrives every day, and you can replay older ones in the archive or keep going in practice mode.
Why we like it:
- β Reading a map of dots as a brand fingerprint is a fresh and surprisingly fun challenge..
- β The category, store count, and overlap feedback makes every wrong guess useful.
- β Optional clues and a spoiler-free share result make it easy for newcomers and map nerds alike.
Hint: Start with the shape of the spread before you guess. A tight cluster in one region or a heavy presence along the interstates narrows the field fast, and your first guess can be a big national chain just to see how much its overlap lights up.
