Building Guessr is a daily geography game where your mission is to identify famous buildings and landmarks from a photo and guess their location on a world map in as few tries as possible.
Each round shows you a photograph of a building, monument, or landmark from the game's collection of 945 structures spanning every continent. Your job is to drop a pin on the world map where you think it stands. You'll also need to guess its current status: still standing, partially ruined, or demolished.
- Click the map to place your guess. The closer you are, the more points you earn.
- Choose whether the building is intact, partially destroyed, or no longer exists.
- Distance from the actual location is measured in kilometers, and your score drops as distance increases.
- Each building unlocks in your collection once discovered.
- The Daily Challenge offers 5 buildings that everyone tackles together.
- Filter by region (Europe, Asia, Americas, Africa, Oceania), era (Ancient, Medieval, Early Modern, Contemporary), type (Religious, Castles, Skyscrapers, Monuments, and more), or jump into special challenges like Speed Run, Expert, Marathon, or Lost Buildings mode.
- Track your progress across 945 buildings, earn XP, and level up as you explore.
Why we like it:
- β That status question (standing, partial, demolished) adds real historical depth to what could be just map clicking.
- β 945 buildings means months of discovery, and the filtering by era or type keeps it fresh.
- β Works beautifully as both a quick coffee break game and a deep dive into world architecture.
Hint: Don't just look at the building. Scan for environmental clues like vegetation, surrounding architecture, climate, and even the quality of light. A palm tree or alpine backdrop can narrow your search by thousands of kilometers before you even study the structure itself.
