Objective

Starting from a given country, build a chain of neighboring countries that maximizes or minimizes the day's category total.

Playlin'sGuide

Hop Haul is a daily geography puzzle where your mission is to build a chain of neighboring countries that collects the most, or the fewest, of something like people, land, or GDP.

Each round deals you a starting country, a limited number of hops, and a few closed countries that no chain can enter. The goal changes from day to day. Sometimes you want the biggest total, sometimes the smallest, so check the direction before you plan your route.

  • Grow your chain one border crossing at a time from the starting country.
  • Your finished chain is compared with the best one possible for that round.
  • Get close enough to the best and the puzzle is solved.
  • The round ends once you have spent all your hops and confirmed.

Why we like it:

  • βœ…It turns a world map into a route-planning puzzle, and every border crossing feels like a real decision.
  • βœ…Changing categories and directions keep each round different.
  • βœ…You come away knowing a little more about how countries compare.

Hint: Look past the first hop. A small or awkward neighbor can be the bridge to a much better cluster of countries, so scan the map ahead before you commit.
