Objective

Guess each song from its opening audio, using the replay button to hear more when you're stumped.

Playlin'sGuide

Sound of Sliver is a daily music guessing game where your mission is to name ten songs from clips as short as 300 milliseconds, racing the clock on a retro click wheel interface.

Each round starts with a tiny audio sliver, barely enough to catch a beat. If you're stumped, hit select to hear a slightly longer clip, but every second you spend and every replay you use chips away at your score. Ten tracks play each day, climbing from easy to hard.

  • Select your guess from a given list.
  • The clip starts at 300ms. You can request longer snippets, but speed is rewarded.
  • The longer you take or the more you replay, the fewer points you keep.
  • Ten songs per day, difficulty increasing as you go.
  • Headphones recommended but speakers will do.

Why we like it:

  • βœ…The click wheel interface is a nostalgic, satisfying way to navigate the game.
  • βœ…Testing your ear against a literal fraction of a second is a unique challenge.
  • βœ…The difficulty curve keeps both casual listeners and music nerds engaged.

Hint: Focus on instrumentation and production style in that first sliver. A song's opening texture, whether it's a guitar strum, a synth stab, or a drum fill, often gives away its era and genre before you even recognize the melody.
