What Year Was It? (aka TIME Cover Game) is a daily historical guessing game from TIME Magazine where your mission is to date five real TIME covers from their century-spanning archive using visual clues and historical context.

Each round presents an authentic magazine cover from anywhere between the 1920s and today. You get a text clue about the moment it captured, then study the photo, design, and typography before dragging a slider to your best guess of the year.
